I made some changes to the original, and this is now a firm family favourite. It’s quick, easy and versatile, and you can make it paleo / keto by making a small change to the crust.
Serve with a side salad.

Bacon Quiche
Quick and easy to make, and super versatile – simply replace the quiche with your favourite combo of vegetables, chicken, ham, etc.
Equipment
- food processor
- pie dish
- mixing bowl
- baking utensils
Ingredients
Pastry
- 1 cup flour
- 250 g butter
- 1 cup grated cheese
Filling
- ½ onion (chopped)
- 500 g bacon (chopped)
- 1 clove garlic (chopped)
- 2 eggs
- 125 ml milk
- 1 cup grated cheese
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 5 ml salt & pepper
- 1 sprig thyme (stripped)
Instructions
PASTRY
- Mix the ingredients together (I just blitz everything in the food processor), and press into a greased pie dish.
FILLING
- Preheat oven to 190°C.
- Fry the onion, bacon and garlic. Spoon over pastry, and spread evenly.
- Mix eggs, cheese, milk, and dry ingredients. Pour liquid mix over bacon mix.
- Optional: sprinkle additional fried onion on top.
- Bake for 30 – 35 minutes.
